Working Remotely, Watching the Swell From a Call?

Your colleagues book your calendar days ahead. Now the surf does too.

Working remotely near the coast sounds like surfing before standup every day. Then a shared calendar does what shared calendars do: colleagues see an empty slot and fill it. SurfSlot claims the slots where the surf is good, early enough that the time is still yours.

At a glance

  • Blocks are real Google Calendar events colleagues can see
  • Only uses the hours you've chosen, like before 9am or lunch
  • Flags clashes with meetings instead of moving them
  • Up to 7 days ahead
  • Text or email alerts

Why the empty slot always gets taken

On a shared work calendar, free time is an invitation. If the surf looks good on Wednesday morning but your calendar is empty, someone will book a call into it, often days before you've looked at the forecast. By the time you check, you're choosing between surf and looking unreliable.

A surf block that's already in the calendar changes that conversation. It shows as busy, like a dentist appointment, and colleagues pick a different time.

Fit surf around the working day

Remote workers usually have a few reliable windows: before the first meeting, a long lunch, or the end of the day. Set those as your surf times and SurfSlot will only look for sessions inside them.

If you'd rather keep the block private, you can rename or change the event in Google Calendar like any other. SurfSlot just puts it there.

When a meeting is already booked

SurfSlot never declines invitations. If a meeting already overlaps a good session, the surf block is still added and your alert mentions the clash. That gives you the information early enough to ask to move the meeting, or skip the session from your dashboard.

Frequently asked

I keep missing the good surf because of work. How does this help?

SurfSlot watches the forecast for your beaches against your own wave, wind and tide rules, inside the hours you've said you can surf. When it lines up, the session goes into your Google Calendar before meetings can take the slot, or you get an email or text asking first.

I'm a freelancer or business owner. Is this for me?

Yes. It's a personal dashboard for people who work and surf: freelancers, remote workers and business owners. It is not for surf schools; schools use the separate SurfSlot booking platform.

Which calendars does it work with?

Google Calendar today. You connect it once in Settings and SurfSlot adds surf sessions as events in your calendar.

What happens if I already have a meeting at that time?

The surf block is still added, and the alert tells you about the clash so you can decide whether to move the meeting or skip the session. SurfSlot never declines or moves your meetings.

Does it book anything for me without asking?

Only if you choose auto-block. In ask-first mode you get an email or text with the session and decide whether to add it. In both modes you can skip or remove a block from your dashboard.

Where does the forecast come from?

SurfSlot uses Open-Meteo marine and weather forecasts for the exact pin you drop on each beach, and checks them every few hours.

Is this for surf schools?

No. This is a personal dashboard for individual surfers. Surf schools use the separate SurfSlot booking platform.
