Surf School Booking Software

Bookings, deposits and waivers — handled while you're in the water.

SurfSlot is purpose-built surf school booking software. Replace spreadsheets, DMs and clunky generic platforms with a system that understands tides, instructor ratios and weather windows — so every reservation lands cleanly in your calendar with payment, waiver and participant details ready to go.

Highlights

  • Embeddable booking widget for your website
  • Stripe payments with deposits, balance and refunds
  • Digital waivers signed before the first lesson
  • Multi-participant capture (name, age, skill, phone)
  • Promo codes and gift cards out of the box

An embed widget that converts

Drop one script tag onto your website and customers can browse lessons, see honest descriptions, pick a date, pay a deposit and sign waivers in under 90 seconds — on mobile or desktop. Most generic booking software pretends surf is the same as a haircut. It isn't.

Multi-participant data without the chase

When a parent books for three kids, SurfSlot captures every participant's name, age, skill level and contact — so your instructors know who's showing up and your inbox stays empty.

Deposits, balances and refunds in one place

Take a partial deposit at booking, auto-collect the balance before the lesson, and refund with one click if conditions cancel a session. Every cent is reconciled with Stripe.

Gift cards and promo codes

Sell branded gift cards from your site, redeem them at checkout, and run discount campaigns with single-use or shared promo codes — no plugins, no extra subscriptions.

How Online Booking Actually Works

The SurfSlot booking widget embeds directly on your website. Customers see real-time availability — only slots where conditions are suitable, instructors are available, and equipment is sufficient appear as bookable. **Booking flow:** 1. Customer selects a product (group lesson, private, camp) 2. Picks a date and time from available slots 3. Enters participant details (name, skill level, size preferences) 4. Adds optional extras (transport, equipment rental, photos) 5. Pays via Stripe (full amount, deposit, or selects cash on arrival) 6. Instant confirmation email sent 7. Individual waiver links sent to each participant 8. Instructor auto-assigned and notified via SMS 9. Equipment allocated per participant That entire flow happens without you touching anything.

Payment Flexibility That Matches How Surf Works

Surf school payments aren't one-size-fits-all. SurfSlot supports: **Full payment upfront** — customer pays 100% at booking. Best for tourists wanting certainty. **Deposits + balance chasing** — take 30-50% at booking. Automatic reminders sent 7, 3, and 1 day before the lesson with a secure payment link. No manual chasing. **Cash on arrival** — customer books online (secures the slot) and pays at the beach. Payment tracked in dashboard. **Package deals** — 3, 5, or 10-lesson packages with automatic lesson credit tracking. Package savings shown at checkout to incentivise upgrades. **Gift cards** — digital gift cards purchased online. Unique codes redeemed during booking. Revenue collected at purchase, lesson delivered later.

What Makes This Different From Generic Booking

Most booking software shows "Available" or "Full." SurfSlot's availability is calculated from four layers: 1. **Capacity per product** — maximum participants per lesson type 2. **Instructor ratio** — available spots based on rostered, qualified instructors 3. **Equipment availability** — enough boards and wetsuits for the group size 4. **Condition suitability** — forecast checked against your beach profiles If any layer fails, the slot doesn't appear. Customers only book what you can actually deliver.

Surf school booking software compared

There are three broad options for a surf school: a platform built for surf, a general watersports platform, or a large activity-booking marketplace. They differ less on features than on who pays, and what you are committed to. The table below is our honest read of the published pricing models as of mid-2026 — check each vendor's current terms before you sign anything, because these change.

PlatformCost modelWho pays the feeCommitmentBuilt for surf?
SurfSlotNo monthly fee. 10% service fee added at checkout. The customer, on top of your listed priceNone — month to month, nothing to pay in the off-seasonYes — tides, conditions, ratios, instructor certifications
BloowatchTiered subscription, also 0% commission on bookingsNeither — you pay the subscriptionPublished plans include a 12-month commitmentYes — watersports-focused, tide-based scheduling, beach POS
EquipDashFrom around $29/month plus a 1–2% booking feeYou pay both the subscription and the booking feeMonthly plans, 21-day free trialYes, but rental-led rather than lesson-led
FareHarborNo subscription; a booking fee on each online bookingTypically passed to the customerNo subscription termNo — general tours and activities
Rezdy / Checkfront / Peek ProSubscription and/or per-booking commission, varies by plan and channelUsually you, sometimes splitTypically annual or monthly plansNo — general activity booking, surf is a category

Two things worth being straight about. First, "0% commission" on its own is not a differentiator — Bloowatch is also 0% commission, and the real difference there is that their plans carry a twelve-month commitment while SurfSlot has none. Second, SurfSlot's 10% is added on top of your price at checkout, so a €60 lesson shows as €66 to the customer. You keep the full €60, but the number the customer sees is higher than it would be on a subscription platform. If you compete on visible price, price with that in mind.

How to choose

  • If you trade a short season, do the arithmetic: multiply any subscription by twelve, then divide by the months you actually teach.
  • If you sell mostly through your own website to fly-in guests, a customer-paid fee is usually easier to absorb than a fixed monthly cost.
  • If you are heavily price-compared against schools on the same beach, model the checkout total, not the list price.
  • If rentals are the bulk of your revenue rather than lessons, a rental-led platform may fit better than a lessons-led one.

Frequently asked

Does the booking widget work on my existing website?

Yes. SurfSlot embeds with one line of HTML on any platform — WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, custom React, you name it.

What does it cost?

There are no monthly fees. We add a 10% platform fee on top of the customer's price at checkout, so you keep 100% of your listed lesson price.

Can I take deposits instead of full payment?

Yes — set a deposit percentage per product and SurfSlot auto-collects the balance before the lesson.
