Surf Condition Alerts
Know which lessons are doomed before your customers do.
Every surf school has a forecast tab open all day. SurfSlot turns that tab into an automated alerting system: live wind, swell, tide and temperature data from Open-Meteo, mapped to each of your beaches and matched against your ideal conditions — with auto-flags 3–4 days out so you can reschedule before refunds become a thing.
Highlights
- Live conditions per beach (wind, swell, tide, temp)
- Ideal-condition profile per beach
- Flags lessons 3–4 days ahead when conditions miss the window
- Auto-suggest alternative beaches
- Public-facing widget shows today's conditions to customers
A condition profile per beach
Tell SurfSlot the wind direction, swell size and tide window each of your beaches actually works in. Once configured, every scheduled lesson is automatically scored against the forecast.
Alerts before customers complain
If Saturday's beginner group is forecast for 30-knot onshore at low tide, SurfSlot flags it on Wednesday — giving you 3 days to move the lesson to a sheltered beach.
Suggested alternatives
When a beach is offline, SurfSlot scans your other locations and suggests the one most likely to work — so you can reschedule in two clicks.
Show conditions to customers
Embed a live conditions widget on your website. Customers see real-time wind, swell and tide for the day they're booking — and trust your operation more for it.
The Data Behind the Alerts
SurfSlot pulls condition data from Open-Meteo every 2 hours: - **Wave height** — significant and maximum - **Swell period and direction** — primary and secondary - **Wind speed and direction** — sustained and gusts - **Tide level and times** — high, low, and current - **Water temperature** — for wetsuit recommendations - **Air temperature** — for comfort planning This data is matched against your per-beach condition profiles. Each beach has its own ideal parameters — because what works at your sheltered beginner beach is completely different from your exposed reef break.
Customer-Facing Conditions Widget
Embed a live conditions widget on your website. Customers see: - Current conditions at your beaches - Today's forecast overview - Condition quality indicator This builds trust ("they monitor conditions seriously") and reduces "will the lesson run?" enquiries by showing transparency.

Frequently asked
Where does the condition data come from?
Open-Meteo Marine and Weather APIs — the same source used by professional forecasters. We refresh every 2 hours.
What if I have a beach with no Open-Meteo coverage?
Nearly all surf coastlines are covered. For exceptions, SurfSlot falls back to the nearest grid point and flags the approximation.
