• Every option has a €380 one-time setup and onboarding fee.

SurfSlot has one model. No subscription, no setup fee and no lock-in. A SurfSlot booking fee is added to the customer's total at checkout: 10% outside Australia, 3.25% customer-visible in Australia (see pricing for how the Australian split works). We only earn when a customer books, and a month with no bookings costs you €0.

The honest reading: Viking's percentage is lower, and your customer sees only your price. SurfSlot costs your school nothing up front and nothing per lesson, but your customer's total is higher. Which matters more depends on your market. If customers compare totals line by line with the school next door, Viking's model is easier to explain. If you want zero fixed cost and nothing deducted from your lesson price, SurfSlot's is.

*Viking's pages describe keeping the schedule up to date when weather changes, planning around tides, and letting customers reschedule weather-cancelled lessons themselves. We could not find automatic forecast monitoring against per-beach thresholds. Ask Viking on a demo, as feature lists change.

Where Viking Bookings is the better fit

• You run kite, wing, windsurf or sailing alongside surf and want one system across all of them.
• You want students to manage their own bookings: rescheduling, paying balances, signing waivers and reading theory from a portal.
• Your customers book in several languages and you want messages sent in theirs.
• You prefer a predictable fixed yearly cost (the Fixed option) and have the volume to justify it.
• You want the platform fee to be invisible to customers.

Where SurfSlot is the better fit

• Surf conditions drive your day, and you want the forecast checked for you against the conditions that work at each of your beaches.
• You want instructors matched on skills as well as availability, and told by SMS when anything changes.
• You want nothing up front and nothing deducted per lesson: no setup fee, no subscription, no percentage of your revenue (outside Australia).
• You are a smaller seasonal school for whom a €380 setup fee and a share of revenue are real money in a quiet year.
• You want rentals, transport pick-ups, gift cards and partner tracking in the same account.

How to decide

Book a demo with both. Bring one real week from last season, including a day the wind turned, and ask each platform to show you exactly what happens: who finds out, who moves the lesson, who tells the customer and the instructor, and what the customer pays at checkout.
